We just got our second shipment of 85 more CDs in yesterday. As of this morning there are only 26 left. We hope to sell all or most of those between sales tables following two concerts tonight (SMS 6th Band and OMS 7th/8th Chorus). In other words, by tomorrow, we could be all sold out!

What a great opportunity. Thanks to PHS alum Ryan Kelly, who works for Service Electric Cable TV, our CD is going to be advertised on TV2. Students in the Music Production class wrote and recorded a voice over narration, prepared three sample sound clips that cross faded into one another, mixed it all together and sent it to TV2 with some still images of the CD.
There, Ryan worked his magic and added wonderful titles, transitions, and more. I hope you get to see the 30-second spot as it airs in the coming week or so.

Last night Mike and Brian Tom set up an AWESOME sales table for the PHS 11th/12th Grade Chorus, Chorale, and Orchestra Concert! We sold about 60 CDs putting us past the “break even” point in terms of our expenses for producing the CD. In fact, we now officially have at least a couple hundred bucks to donate to Valley Youth House (our charity).
We still have about a week and a half to sell CDs in school and at several more district winter concerts. If you haven’t bought yours yet, do so soon. Quantities are limited.

Several folks who’ve purchased and listened to this year’s CD have come back to me and said things like, “Hey, it sounds like you kicked it up a notch this year,” or “I don’t know about you, but to me this sounds like the best CD so far.” We’re so proud of our release, and so interested in making the most for Valley Youth House (our chosen charity), YET…the window for selling the CD is very narrow, only about three weeks.
It’s so very important that we get the word out about Parkland: A Season for Giving. We’ve taken an ad out in the Parkland Press that you should see soon. The class is producing their own 30-second spot for TV2 (thanks Ryan Kelly!) and we may get some other press. WORD OF MOUTH, however, is one of the best sales tools for something like this. Thanks to all the students in the Music Production class, Mr. Stutz, Mrs. Reilly and PAC, Mrs. McGalla, Nick B. our sound man, and everyone else who helped make this morning’s Coffee House CD Release Party a success.

We enjoyed some great live performances of several tracks from the CD, sold about 25 CDs, and had an informative visit from Roger O. (development director from Valley youth House). If you have to be up that early, what better way to start your day? Thanks especially to the PHS administrators, faculty, and staff who joined us – we appreciate your support!
Area press in attendance included a reporter from the Parkland Press and a cameraman from Service Electric TV. Hopefully we’ll be seeing Parkland: A Season for Giving (2009) in the news in the days ahead.
Tomorrow, December 2, 2009, is the “official” release date for the Parkland: A Season for Giving (2009) holiday CD. We launch sales at the Coffee House at 7:00 a.m. in the Parkland High School auditorium lobby.
Remember, proceeds from sale of the CD benefit Valley Youth House, helping troubled teens in our area.
